Perfect Streamlines All Seasons Swim School has a compulsory Nappies on Policy for any swimmers under the age of 3 or any swimmer that is not fully toilet trained with full control of their bowels.

Most activities that children attend involve a uniform that works for the activity that they are participating in.

The uniform for Perfect Streamlines All Seasons Swim School which swimmers should always come to lessons in includes:

  1. Proper swimwear attire - without a proper swimsuit, swimmers will be unable to enter the pool.
  2. All children under the age of 3 years, or all children over 3 years that are not fully toilet trained, must be double layered in a disposable swimmers nappy and a "happy nappy" which is fitted around the waist and the legs. This is mandatory and ensures that our pool water quality remains at the high standard our customers are used to. To help with us with this policy your enrolment fee includes an approved “Happy Nappy” (water babies only).
  3. Towel.
  4. Googles (excluding water babies).
  5. Swimming Cap (excluding water babies under 2).
  6. Kit Bags (flippers, pull buoy, paddles, snorkels, kickboard, band) - squad swimmers only

We do not use floatation aids such as bubbles or armbands in our lessons. While these devices may provide increased independence for the wearer in the short term, they are not conducive to teaching swimming in the longer term. Floatation aids tend to place the wearer in a vertical body position which makes it difficult to teach the fundamental skills required when learning to swim; submersion, a streamlined body position, and propulsion.

However, a small selection of kickboards, noodles and toys may be used.

Remember that in all cases, floatation aids are not a substitute for proper and careful supervision.

  1. Goggles are a vital teaching aid at various stages of the learning process. They allow the child good vision and comfort underwater.
  2. It is great for children to have their own when it is time to use them regularly.
  3. Goggles are required when they begin learning freestyle but can be used earlier to allow the swimmer to get used to them.
  4. We encourage some time without googles in lessons to avoid dependency, however these times will be programmed into our lesson structure.
  5. Quality goggles are available for purchase from reception.

Perfect Streamlines All Seasons Swim School has a compulsory Caps on Policy for any swimmers over 2 years old.

  1. This allows more hygienic water conditions and better swimming experience for students.
  2. Caps allow better concentration whilst swimming because it keeps hair out of the eyes and mouth.
  3. Caps allow goggles to go on more easily and stops goggles from sliding down the head or pulling/tangling hair.
  4. Caps keeps some water out of ears. For those prone to earaches, we recommend ear putty as well.
  5. Caps keep heads warmer in winter.
  6. Caps keeps hair, dirt, and oils out of the pool and stops headlice spreading.
  7. To help with us with this policy your enrolment fee includes a quality silicon Perfect Streamlines All Seasons Swim School swimming cap (excluding water babies).
  8. Additional caps are available for purchase from reception.

  1. When putting caps on, get your child to hold one side on the top of the forehead, then slowly stretch the cap over the head.
  2. After your child’s lesson pat the cap, dry inside and out with your towel store in their swimming bag.
  3. DO NOT place caps scrunched & wet in bags, in washing machines, dryers, on window sills or over taps this causes stretching, sticking and holes.
  4. Be careful not to over stretch, go too fast or stick fingers/nails or hair pins through the cap.

Swimming lessons are often seen as a seasonal activity, however there are many good reasons to make swimming a priority and continue with lessons all year. Many parents initially enrol their children in lessons out of concern for water safety. Swimming lessons are a crucial link in the "Layers of Protection" against drowning. The risk of accidents doesn't go away in the cooler parts of the year, so neither should the lessons!

Another reason to continue with lessons is to learn to new skills and reinforce existing ones. This is particularly important with younger children whose long term skill development and muscle memory is just beginning to develop. Physical activities like swimming are also an important part of a child's development across a range of areas including fine and gross motor skills, self confidence and coordination. Swimming lessons offer a unique combination of social and physical interactions with the teacher, their classmates and the aquatic environment.

Keep in mind that the pool at Perfect Streamlines All Seasons Swim School is maintained at a consistent temperature, ensuring that swimming can be a comfortable and beneficial activity throughout the year.

It is perfectly fine to swim in winter. Our water is very warm so it may fell cold when children get out of the pool initially. Our centre is heated.

To help keep the kids warm, make sure that they:

  1. Have their cap on in the pool
  2. Dress in warm clothes or a dressing gown to go home (wearing your wet swimmers under a towel or your clothes is NOT recommended)
  3. Have a beanie ready for their heads and socks for their feet
